The University of Portsmouth should introduce a content creator scheme

With platforms such as YouTube being the places where people turn for advice regarding University life, I believe it would be beneficial for the University to have a team of content creators.

Explain your idea further

Similar schemes are happening at Universities across the UK, and by student housing companies, boosting the online presence of the universities. The Study/ University community on Youtube has starkly grown in the last few years. People are looking for as much information as they can about University, with University Room Tour videos and 'What am I taking to University?' and 'Fresher's Advice' videos gaining thousands of views. A content creation scheme could further help incoming students decide whether Portsmouth is the right place for them and would benefit current students in terms of the creative skills it would encourage.

How would your idea benefit students?

This idea would benefit current students as it would give them a creative outlet and encourage them to learn skills in Social Media and Video Creation. It would benefit incoming students by giving them an insight into what university life would be like at the University of Portsmouth in particular, looking into various areas such as lifestyle, food, facilities, the city itself and their course.

How could your idea be implemented?

A YouTube channel and various accompanying Social Media could be created and people could sign up to take part via A Google Docs sign up form or similar. There could be various briefs for the content created.
