Langstone lights to be turned off at 5 past 10 to allow students to finish training sessions

The langstone flood lights are always turned off at 10pm on the dot each week. This does not allow students time to finish their sessions and collect their things together and safely leave the pitches

Explain your idea further

Turning off the flood lights at exactly 10PM doesn't give students enough time to find their things at the end of session, it becomes pitch black by this time so students and coaches spend a lot of time at the end trying to find everything in the freezing cold and pitch black. I also think this is very unsafe and should be against health and safety policy considering people cannot really see where they are going, we have had multiple trips or falls from not being able to see and these could potentially become dangerous. Leaving the flood lights on for an extra five minutes at the end will allow enough time for all of the equipment and personal belongings to be retrieved and for students to leave the pitches safely while being able to see where they are walking; hopefully preventing any further injuries or incidents.

How would your idea benefit students?

This idea would benefit students by giving them the time they need to get their things together and swiftly leave the pitches in a quick and safe manner, rather than not being able to see and trying to find all their things in the cold and dark.

How could your idea be implemented?

My idea could be implemented by the langstone staff allowing an extra five minutes for the flood lights to be on at the end of the last 10PM sessions. Five minutes would be enough time for students to find their things and leave the pitches and it is also is not a lot of time to ask staff to stay and ensure everyone is safe.
